Loving, learning, growing together with Jesus

Wednesday 14th October

Good morning, everyone! Happy Wednesday!

Thank you all for your lovely emails showing us what you are doing at home. They really do make our day.

Letters and Sounds

For Letters and Sounds today, segment and blend these words. Can you read any of the polysyllabic words? Then choose two words and put them into sentences.

Can you remember the title of the story we have been reading? Who is the author? Well done if you remembered! Watch how to Catch a Star. Can you join in with any parts of the story this time?

Dictate these sentences to your child for them to write.

I can see a star.

The boy tried to jump.

 He ran to the beach.

I can see the moon.

Can you use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces? Is your writing sitting on the line?

Today is all about the number 7. Watch this Jack Hartmann video to learn about the number bonds to 7.

Today, we are going to find all of the ways to make 7. I have used bowls and seven pasta shapes to make a part-part whole model. Have a look at my photograph. Which number bond to 7 have I made? Is this the number bond I should have started with? You're right, I have made 1 + 6 = 7. I should have started with 0 + 7 = 7.

Now move one object across to the first plate/bowl each time to find all of the ways to make 7. How many ways can you find?

See if you can draw some part-part whole models to show the different ways to make 7.

Come and See

As today would usually be a P.E day for some of you, try to do something active this afternoon. What can you do ten of? You could do ten star jumps, ten bunny hops, ten touches of your toes or anything else you can think of.

You can also try this Cosmic Kids Yoga channel that you can find on YouTube. This episode takes us on a Bear Hunt. We all love that story by Michael Rosen.  Have fun!

If you need any help with the work online, please email your class teacher and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please don't worry if you can't print any of the work provided. You can just use a pencil and paper to draw the part-part whole models and write your sentences.

Have a lovely day, everyone. We miss you lots so please keep your lovely emails coming.

Love from
